Safety is our #1 concern at Pekin JFL
The Junior Football League of Central Illinois has always been the leader in youth football for many reasons. We, like most other youth sports programs are concerned for our player’s safety. We are being proactive and improving the way we protect our athletes. Our goal is to teach and educate our coaches and athletes on how we can keep our players safe. As a guideline to our coaches, players and parents, we have provided helpful information and resources for Concussions, the number one concern of many, from the NFL to the JFL.
What is a Concussion? A concussion is a type of traumatic brain injury, or TBI, caused by a bump, blow, or jolt to the head that can change the way your brain normally works. Concussions can also occur from a fall or a blow to the body that causes the head and brain to move quickly back and forth. Health care professionals may describe a concussion as a “mild” brain injury because concussions are usually not life-threatening. Even so, their effects can be serious.
